    ·  Reviewed on Xbox 360

    ·  The wants and needs of competitive fighting game players have warrented increasingly meaningful consideration from developers in the past few years, but Ultra Street Fighter 4 is a clear example of how a fighting game can address those needs without alienating more casual players. A substantial cast-wide rebalance, combined with features like the long-requested offline match recording and the insanely fun edition-select make Ultra the most complete, refined version of Street Fighter 4 yet. It’s an experience that feels custom-made for everyone from the weekend warrior to the intermediate or advanced-level tournament hound.

Considering that Street Fighter 4 is now nearly five years old, the additions in Ultra are actually quite daring. W-Ultra is the big standout here, giving you access to both of your character's ultra combos instead of one or the other. Neither will do as much damage, but the utility it provides is almost irresistible for characters like Dudley for instance, whose Ultra 1 is threatening in specific matchups, but his Ultra 2 is too generally useful to pass on. It's a great additional layer of tactical consideration that adds dimension to many formerly stale matchup considerations.

Delayed wakeup and red-focus on the other hand, are a little more situational in application, and thus, they aren't as immediately impactful as W-Ultra. They do, however, give every character some new options for dealing with the knockdown/vortex aggression that defined tournament play in Arcade Edition 2012, and for that reason alone, these are welcome additions. It's nice to feel less helpless after getting knocked down by Cammy or Akuma.

The most abundant changes however, are the subtle ones, and it is here where Ultra truly distinguishes itself. Every character has been touched in one way or another in an attempt to broaden the field of viable characters, and close the gap between the top and bottom tiers. The true degree of Capcom's success here will take time and tournaments to tell, but so far, the changes look great. Little things like fixing Rufus' Messiah Kick, and reverting some of Yun's heavy-handed 2012 nerfs help make those characters feel like threats again. Subtle enhancements like the speed of Ken's crouching forward, or the hit box of Dudley's standing fierce mean that characters who have long been ignored may have a chance to rise to prominence. More than ever, characters who have struggled at the bottom seem worth dusting off again, giving Ultra a fresh, exciting feel.

For folks who aren't into the finer points of fisticuffs, the biggest chunk of new content is the five characters, bringing the playable count to a whopping 44 fighters. Rolento, Elena, Poison, and Hugo make their way from Street Fighter x Tekken with a lot of their move-sets intact, but retooled for SF4's more traditional combat engine. The results are pleasing across the board.

Plants vs Zombies Tips Walkthrough

Walkthrough notes

The key to help with this game, is not a straight-forward go here, go there, like with Hidden Object-games or Adventure-games. Instead, I’ll give you some helpful strategy basics, the pros and cons of of your plants, a strategy against the different zombies, and tips on the extra puzzles and mini-games.
The times in this walkthrough are given in patches, which stand for the amount of patches an average zombie walks; this comes down to about 5 seconds per patch.
Besides Gamezebo wisdom, at the end of the walkthrough, you will find tips and tricks from the Tree of Wisdom.

Easter Eggs – funny extras

Type in the following codes during gameplay to activate them. Type them in again, to de-activate them. For some of the Easter eggs, your tree of wisdom needs to be a certain height, but often (not always, sorry if you are unlucky), you will be able to turn the Easter eggs on at any point.
  • “future” – the zombies wear retro sunglasses
  • “mustache” – the zombies get a mustache
  • “trickedout” – a visual upgrade of the lawnmowers
  • "sukhbir" – toggles the zombie’s call for brains sound
  • “pinata” – a shower of candy when a zombie dies (tree of wisdom at 500 feet)
  • “daisies” – flowers sprout from fallen zombies (tree of wisdom at 100 feet)
  • "dance" – makes the zombies dance (tree of wisdom at 1,000 feet)
Basic strategy – sun production
From the go, you will want to start planting as many Sunflowers (or Sun-shrooms at night) as you can. In general, your aim should be to plant around 10 to 12 sunflowers total.
Situation: A zombie approaches, and I must choose to plant an attack plant, or another sunflower.
Your choice depends on how far away the zombie is, and your current amount of suns. The image below shows you an example.

In the pool-level, you will be rewarded with a Twin Sunflower, which will produce two suns at once.
Do not plant this untill you have planted all the sunflowers you are going to, since the extra costs can be better used.
While you can use sunflowers at night, their extra costs don’t weigh up to the initial extra sun production, so it’s best to use just sunflowers during the day, and just sun-shrooms during the night.

Basic strategy – timing your gardening
It may come as a shock, but zombies do not play nice. When you think you’re almost save, and have a decent defense on 3 of your 5 lanes, suddenly two zombies appear on the other two. How are you going to stop them both!?
Timing is essential in this game. The above situation might make you feel helpless, but if one zombie is much slower then the other, that gives you the chance to tackle them both. That’s why I’ve made a little chart below, with the average time (in distance covered by a zombie) it takes the most common plants to kill a normal zombie, and how long it takes to kill a Conehead zombie.

Plant strategies
The game has a very nifty Suburban Almanac, which can be found in the main menu, that shows you a description of all the plants you have unlocked. In this section, I will give some additional hints on how to maximize the use of some of the plants.
  • Chompers devour a zombie in one bite, but then take a long time to digest them. This makes them less effective in levels with many zombies. An effective way to work with them still, is to plant two chompers behind eachother, so when the first one is still digesting, the second one can eat the next zombie. You can also plant a wall-nut or tall-nut in front of them, who can protect the chomper for nearly the entire time it’s digesting.
  • Puff-shrooms are only used at night (waking them up with a coffee bean costs 75 sun, you can get better for that money), but they are free! It takes them 1.5 patch (7.5 seconds) to recharge. Their range is 3 patches, which is just enough to kill a single zombie before it starts chomping its head off. Be carefull not to place them closer to a zombie if you can help it.
  • Fume-shrooms, another nocturnal plant, are your best attack against those Screen Door zombies. Luckily they have an added advantage of hurting multiple zombies at the same time. The Gloom-shroom you can put on top of it, limits its forward attack to 2 patches, but offer an extra 2 patch range to all other sides as well. However, planting them on the outside of the lawn, is quite a waste of money.
Zombie strategies
The game has a very nifty Suburban Almanac, which can be found in the main menu, that shows you a description of all the zombies you have encountered. In this section, I will give some additional hints on how to best take on some of those thougher zombies.
  • Pole Vaulting zombie jumps over the first plant he encounters, so if you encounter him in a level, make sure you have a back-up.
  • Buckethead zombies are tough critters, that take a lot of damage before going back to being undead; up to 5 times as much. Consider a squash or other one-hit wonders if you don’t have the artillery to bring them down. A magnet-shroom will make your life with these zombies much easier though.
  • Screen Door zombies are very though with their screen door shield, but if you use a magnet-shroom to take the door, or a fume-shroom to shoot through the door, they will be down soon enough. It is adviced to plant a fume-shroom as soon as you see these guys enter the screen though.

NBA 2K On Ball Defense Tips

On ball defense seems to be one of the most difficult facets of NBA 2K for the average player. While it may be easier to not play defense on the ball handler, understanding proper on ball defense can be your biggest advantage over an opponent.
The key is knowing when to be aggressive and when to give space.

  • Lay-Off The Turbo

The biggest misconception when guarding the player with the ball is that you must always be in the player’s face and trying to steal the ball. This technique only proves beneficial if you are an elite defender guarding a bad ball handler. If defending a player who poses an offensive threat, you must play off the players’ weaknesses.
In order to do so proper use of the R2 and L2 triggers must be understood.
Holding the sprint R2 trigger while defending is one of the easiest ways to give up an easy basket. The trade-off to moving quicker is that you will have less control over the player’s actions. You should only press R2 if you are in need of quickly getting to a spot defensively to make a play or running to catch a defender.
If you are in front of your defender you can react better to the player dribbling if you aren’t holding R2. Holding R2 and trying to predict which way the scorer is going is the easiest way to get crossed up. Therefore it is best to stay in front of your defender and only began holding R2 when your defender has been whipped.
    • Stay In Front Of The Ball

The best way to stay in front of the ball is to lay off R2 and give enough space to react. Giving up a jump shot is always better than a lay up.
If you provide enough space, you can decipher which way the scorer is going and thwart their first move (in which most scorers will hold R2) and then use R2 afterwards to give your defender the advantage. If you have already been bullied to the post and have the tough task of stopping a basket near the basket, use L2.
L2 is the intense D trigger, and it strengthens your defender’s position. This can stop a post man from backing you down or bring you close enough to disrupt the easy basket.
For example, if you are playing with Chris Wilcox and you are defending Dwight Howard, this technique may not do any good once the center is already posted up but it is your best effort (bring the double team in your playing Dwight…).
    • Stopping Post Players

Another key feature to on bal defensel is utilizing the right joystick. Holding the right joystick puts your hands up so you can stop a pass or close off a lane. Once you are holding your hands up defensively you can maneuver them left or right to prevent passes.
This is great for a double team on a center because it can cutoff a whole area of activity forcing a bad play for the ball handler. And if they pass it and you can see who is open you can move your hands and stop the pass, opening up a steal and possible fast break opportunity.
Now that you understand how to stay in front of a ball handler and bother them down low, you gotta pick and choose when to be aggressive. Guarding a premier player like Carmelo Anthony or Kevin Durant, you are better off aggressively chasing down every shot and quickly switch to the help D.
    lebron offense
Those guarding Lebron James or Paul George should be defending with more space because giving up jump shots is ideal so long as they are not practice shots. Counting on help defense against someone who is known for dunking is not a good move. Keep them in front of you and just let them shoot it.
Regardless of which NBA player is being used, what matters most is the user playing with them and figuring out if they are better shooting with that NBA player or taking it to the basket, and not letting them do what they want to do.

Titanfall Developer Thinking About Free-To-Play

Following the success of Titanfall, its debut game which has become the best-selling Xbox One game to date, Respawn is looking forward to new projects. Although the studio is staying tight-lipped, it did let slip in an interview with CVG a few details about where it is turning its attention.

Earlier this month, Respawn hired veteran game designer Stig Asmussen. The designer, who worked on the God of War trilogy, is now game director at the Titanfall developer. In the interview, Respawn COO Dusty Welch revealed that Asmussen was not brought on just to help with Titanfall. "I can tell you that part of his role here is thinking about how the studio can expand and where the growth sectors are in free-to-play and mobile," Zampella explained. "Looking at those possibilities is part of what we do."

Respawn is looking to expand in the console space, as well. Although the first Titanfall was only on Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC, rumors have surfaced that the sequel is in development for the PlayStation 4. Although nothing official has been stated yet, Zampella confirmed that the company is including the PS4 as it plans for the future. "As we go forward," Welch said, "we will of course consider all of the platforms that make sense for our games. So there's nothing in the short term, but certainly PS4 is something we're looking at in the future."

GameSpot thought that Titanfall was great when it came out in March. One DLC pack for the game was released in May and two more will launch soon. A significant patch introducing two game modes and weapon tweaks also has begun rolling out, with the first of the new modes going live today.

Check out this trailer of titanfall below: -

The Wolf Among Us (2013) - Final Episode, Cry Wolf - Teaser Image

The Teaser Image: Twitter Post (June 30th 2014)

The Wolf Among Us is an episodic adventure video game. You play the game as Bigby Wolf, controlling his choices, forming and changing the overall story. This game is very similar to Telltale's previous successful release The Walking Dead video game, which won many awards and Game of the Year designations. Presumably, the teaser image would indicate the reveal of Bigby's final form, The Big Bad Wolf in this final episode.

The official trailer for the final episode is going to be released tomorrow. (3rd July 2014)
